Welcome to Global Dental Leaders (GDL) website. GDL in an initiative to utilise the leadership capabilities of the dental profession to improve the oral health of disadvantaged children, particularly those in developing countries.

GDL is run by the Global Child Dental Fund (GCDF) founded by Professor Raman Bedi, King's College London. It is supported by Colgate Palmolive and other industry leaders.

Our mission is to eliminate dental cavities in children across the world. Dental decay disproportionately impacts disadvantaged children and therefore the Global Dental Live project starts this social movement by developing social responsibility among the newer members of the dental profession.

Mission

We aim to do this by:

  • providing dental leadership programmes
  • encouraging individuals to become involved in local projects which help disadvantaged children
  • participating in a voluntary service projects

Key Issues

  • The elimination of dental cavities, especially in young children, will not be achieved by a single project but rather by a social movement
  • The dental profession need to lead this movement
  • Dental caries impacts most upon disadvantaged children
  • GDL will create a better understanding of the needs of disadvantaged children, worldwide, in the new members of the dental profession
